Two checks before renting
ICA asks homeowners to check the validity of the tenant’s original physical/digital immigration pass and compare the pass and passport to establish that the tenant is the rightful holder. Use the issuing authority’s verification channel.
Example: a document is not enough
A photograph of a valid-looking pass does not replace a validity check and identity comparison. For an ICA Student’s Pass or LTVP, use the official ICA checking route. An expired pass requires attention even if the tenant previously held lawful status.
Offenders and reporting
Harbouring immigration offenders may carry up to two years’ imprisonment and a fine not exceeding S$6,000. Report suspected illegal immigrants or overstayers through ICA’s official feedback channel.
