Who can request?
For a Singapore birth, the holder aged at least 21, a parent, legal guardian or their solicitor may request an extract to replace a lost/damaged certificate. Prepare recorded name, sex, birth date and birth certificate/NRIC number. Missing details require a record search, including the mother’s name and relevant dates/addresses where available. Overseas births are not held by this registry.
Fees and download
Extract: S$40, generally six working days and download within 30 days of approval. Search: S$40 for periods from 1 January 1986; earlier periods S$50 per month or part-month. Search usually takes three weeks; a successful search is followed by separate extract payment. Fees are non-refundable. Save the digital file.
