Eligibility, validity and preparation
Singapore citizens apply or renew through MyICA with Singpass and a compliant recent photograph; overseas counter applications use the mission route. Passports issued to citizens aged at least 16 have ten-year validity; those under 16 have five years. Only the five-year passport may carry over unused validity, capped at nine months. A newborn citizen’s first passport fee is waived when submitted through MyICA by the first birthday.
Fees and processing
Apply online with Singpass for S$70, or at ICA/an overseas mission counter for S$80. Local processing is around one to two weeks; unsuitable photos or principal-name/surname changes can take up to four weeks. Complete overseas applications take around four to six weeks. Check the outcome email and arrange collection after approval.
