Displaying and quoting prices

Public advertisements and written or verbal quotations generally show GST-inclusive prices.

Source checked · 11 October 2026

Key requirements

If both net and gross prices appear, the inclusive amount is at least equally prominent. Listing only S$100 plus GST is not the accepted alternative to showing S$109 at 9%. A genuine service-charge hotel or F&B exception needs a prominent notice and cannot be manufactured by a nominal charge. Bargaining does not remove inclusive quotation. Misleading “no GST” advertising is prohibited where tax is actually embedded or absorbed. Review website cards, menus, adverts and staff quotations together so the customer sees the payable price rather than learning about mandatory GST only at checkout.
