Dividends Received by Individuals: Exemptions and Reporting

Many personal dividends are not taxable, but co-operative, partnership and trading circumstances need separate checks.

Source checked · 11 October 2026

Identify the dividend category

Singapore-resident company dividends under the one-tier system are generally not taxable, except co-operatives. Foreign dividends received by resident individuals are generally exempt except those received through a Singapore partnership, which may qualify under separate conditions. REIT distributions are generally not taxable for individuals except where received through a partnership or a REIT trade, business or profession.

Declaration timing

Taxable dividends belong to the year they are declared payable. Report them under “Other Income” unless the dividend voucher states that the company supplies the information to IRAS. Use the voucher to identify the treatment rather than assuming every distribution follows the one-tier exemption.
