FI AEOI Profile: Updating Classification and the Correct GIIN

AEOI profile edits distinguish the FI, sponsor and trustee GIINs, while third-party agents can view the profile but cannot update it.

Access and role restriction

Prepare Singpass and the Reporting SGFI’s tax reference; open More > AEOI > View/Update FI AEOI Profile. Third-party agents may view but not update the profile. Tax agents choose the client’s ID type, such as ASGD, ITR or the relevant UEN category, enter the tax reference and Next. Other users skip that client-selection step.

Fields that can change

The landing page shows current CRS/FATCA status. The guide permits editing the CRS financial-institution type and FATCA type plus FI GIIN, sponsor GIIN and trustee GIIN when changed. These are distinct fields; using one identifier everywhere ignores the defined roles.

Three GIIN definitions

FI GIIN is the unique identifier the entity receives from US IRS after foreign-financial-institution FATCA registration. A Sponsored Closely Held Investment Vehicle also puts its sponsoring entity’s GIIN in that field. Sponsor GIIN identifies the sponsoring entity that accepts the entity’s FATCA reporting duties. Trustee GIIN is assigned to the Reporting SGFI handling due diligence/reporting for trustee-documented trusts; the guide expressly says not to use the separate GIIN it receives for its own PFFI or RDCFFI registration.

Save and check the acknowledgement

Select Save, then Yes to confirm or No to cancel. Successful submission produces an acknowledgement, and the guide says changes take immediate effect with a copy saved in View AEOI Notices/Letters. These interface and timing statements are from the 4 January 2022 edition.
