Confinement Nanny Eligibility: Employer, Age, Levy and Insurance

Malaysian nationality, ages twenty-three to below seventy, newborn age, levy and insurance.

Source reviewed: 2026-10-12

Employer and nanny requirements

The employer must be at least 21 when applying, have a newborn below four months and obtain a Work Permit and pay monthly levy. Validity ends no later than sixteen weeks from birth; applying after birth shortens it.

The nanny must be Malaysian, at least 23 and below 70 at application, and work at the employer’s residence. Both parties follow basic Work Permit conditions; the nanny cannot work for other employers in an occupation outside the permit.

Levy

Monthly levy is S$60 for a Singapore-citizen newborn or S$300 for a non-citizen newborn. If a helper is also registered under the employer, levy is combined for GIRO deduction.

Medical examination and insurance

A medical examination is optional and may be considered because of newborn contact. The page retains an older S$15,000 figure but immediately specifies that policies effective on or after 1 July 2023 require at least S$60,000 annual coverage. Apply that dated requirement and the linked domestic-worker insurance rules.
