Eligible Business Owners
Eligible DP holders must be sole proprietors, partners, company directors with at least 30% shareholding, or members of a Company Limited by Guarantee, in an ACRA-registered business. Check the actual structure and role rather than assuming any shareholding qualifies.
Renewal and Local Employment
Renewal needs at least three months’ DP validity and at least one Singapore citizen or PR employee earning the prevailing Local Qualifying Salary, with CPF contributions for at least three consecutive months before submission. LQS differs from EP/S Pass thresholds; use genuine employment records.
Initial and Renewal Duration
The initial LOC ends at the earlier of one year from issuance or DP expiry. Renewals can run up to DP expiry. LOC ceases when DP ends or the business is inactive, and cancellation is still required. Track business activity and residence validity together.
Practical Preparation Sequence
Check DP, registration, ownership and shareholding first. Before renewal, review real local payroll, CPF months and remaining validity. Do not fabricate employment. Clarify whether the plan is to operate a business or join another employer.
