Permits and renewal: questions 1–3
An Entry Permit grants entry and PR residence; REP enables re-entry for its fixed validity. Use MyICA to apply; renewal opens three months before expiry. ICA issued Entry Permits to all PRs before December 2025, including those previously without one.
Inside Singapore: questions 4–5
REP expiry while remaining in Singapore does not itself remove PR status. Travelling on a valid REP and returning before expiry retains PR status. Renew before travel to minimise risk.
Outside Singapore: questions 6–9
From 1 December 2025, apply within 180 days from first being physically outside Singapore without a valid REP. Timely application preserves PR status pending the outcome. Returning within that period does not remove the need to apply. Entry remains subject to entry/public-health requirements.
| Situation | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Apply in the 180-day period | PR retained pending outcome; approved REP retains PR |
| Application unsuccessful | PR lost the day after outcome is sent |
| Do not apply in time | Automatic loss after the 180-day period |
PR single-entry pass: questions 10–12
A PRSEP may be issued during the prescribed period, subject to entry/public-health assessment. It permits one entry on its stated date; it is not a new REP or a reset of the 180-day deadline. If REP is refused, PR is lost and a Visit Pass is issued to a person in Singapore.
Missed deadline, refusals and notice: questions 13–17
After missing the deadline, reinstatement appeals are not accepted; submit a new PR application for consideration. An unsuccessful REP likewise requires a new PR application rather than continued PR status through an appeal. ICA notifies loss of PR. The document contrasts pre-December-2025 rules; those historical one-month arrangements are not the current 180-day system.
