When the certificate is required
The requirement covers all travellers, including residents, who visited a yellow-fever-risk country during the six days before arrival, regardless of city or region. Airport transit exceeding 12 hours in such a country also counts. Review every stop in the itinerary.
Certificate validity and quarantine
The international vaccination certificate becomes valid ten days after vaccination and remains valid for life. Travellers without a valid certificate may be quarantined for six days from departure from the affected country, including people unable to receive the vaccine. A certificate becoming valid during quarantine does not end quarantine early. Non-residents refusing quarantine may be denied entry.
Example and country list
If an airport connection in a listed risk country lasts 13 hours, the transit condition applies even without leaving the airport. ICA’s country table groups Africa and Latin America; consult the linked live list before travel because the list itself carries an older reference date.
