Key requirements
Registered businesses use 9% on standard-rated local goods and services. The rate increased from 8% on 1 January 2024; 8% applied during 2023 and 7% from July 2007 through 2022. Older periods used 3%, 4% or 5% as listed by IRAS. A transaction crossing a rate-change date requires the transitional rules, not simply the rate on the payment-processing day. Keep invoice, payment and delivery or performance dates where historic corrections are needed. Zero-rated supplies remain taxable supplies at 0%, while exempt transactions are a different category.
