Liquidation Declarations: Worked Filing Dates When Receipts Change

Four liquidation examples show annual and four-year declarations, catch-up filings when receipts return, final seven-day filings and tax-status evidence.

Source checked · 11 October 2026

Older liquidation already calendar-assessed

Example 1 liquidates 2 April 2019 before the 30 July 2020 IRDA effective date, with final meeting 31 May 2022. The first 2 April 2019–1 April 2020 account was already split into YA 2020 for 2 April–31 December 2019 and YA 2021 for 1 January–1 April 2020, filed by 1 May 2020. Later 2 April 2020–1 April 2021 becomes YA 2022, due 1 May 2021. Last 2 April 2021–21 February 2022 becomes YA 2023, due 28 February 2022 within seven days and ending within six months of the final meeting. The source labels final accounts 2 April 2019–31 May 2022 YA 2021–2024: they need not be submitted, but extra 22 February–31 May 2022 receipts require an interim declaration. These are worked-example periods, not general current-year dates.

Older liquidation not yet calendar-assessed

Example 2 has the same liquidation/final-meeting dates, but the first declaration has not been assessed on calendar years. The complete 2 April 2019–1 April 2020 period is YA 2021 and filed by 1 May 2020 within one month. Subsequent annual periods and final requirements follow Example 1. Prior assessment status changes the first basis period.

Receipts cease after the first year

Example 3 liquidates 25 August 2020 and final meeting is 30 November 2026. Receipts for 25 August 2020–24 August 2021 are YA 2022, due 24 September 2021. Nil-receipt period 25 August 2021–24 August 2025 spans YA 2023–2026, filed every four years, due 24 September 2025. Last nil period 25 August 2025–21 June 2026 is YA 2027, due 28 June 2026. Final accounts 25 August 2020–30 November 2026 cover YA 2022–2028 and need not be submitted, unless further 22 June–30 November 2026 receipts require an interim declaration.

Receipts resume after nil periods

Example 4 liquidates 25 August 2020, final meeting 30 November 2024. Nil receipts through 24 August 2022 span YA 2022/2023; receipts 25 August 2022–24 August 2023 are YA 2024. File separate yearly periods 25 August 2020–24 August 2021, 25 August 2021–24 August 2022 and 25 August 2022–24 August 2023 by 24 September 2023. Last nil period 25 August 2023–21 June 2024 is YA 2025, due 28 June 2024. Final accounts through 30 November 2024, YA 2022–2026, are not required, but new 22 June–30 November 2024 receipts trigger an interim filing.

Establish no outstanding matter or liability

When filing the last declaration, the liquidator may use the latest Notice(s) of Assessment for tax matters and latest Statement of Accounts for liability from myTax Portal. With these documents a separate tax-clearance letter is unnecessary to confirm no outstanding matters/liability. The source distinguishes final accounts from a required last or interim declaration; final-account non-submission is not permission to ignore new receipts.
