Applying for a GST eGuarantee

The GST eGuarantee checklist sets out the nine fields to provide to a participating financial institution, including the correct applicant identifier and exact values from IRAS’s request letter.

Source checked · 11 October 2026

Application route

The document concerns applying to a participating financial institution for an eGuarantee. It lists the information to give that institution and links to a specimen guarantee. It does not prescribe a universal guarantee amount or term: those details come from the letter requesting the guarantee.

Template, case and beneficiary: fields 1–3

Field 1 is the guarantee template reference IRAS_GST, applicable specifically to an eGuarantee. Field 2 is the case reference in the request letter. Field 3 is beneficiary CGST, meaning the Comptroller of GST. These references identify the guarantee type, relevant case and correct beneficiary.

Applicant name and identifier: fields 4–5

Use the official applicant name registered with ACRA or the official NRIC name. A business supplies its UEN. An individual sole proprietor supplies NRIC or FIN. An overseas business or individual without UEN/FIN uses the assigned number in the guarantee-request letter. For a GST group or divisional registration, use the GST number instead. Selecting the identifier depends on the registration arrangement, not simply on who completes the application.

Currency and sum: fields 6–7

Currency code is SGD. Enter the guaranteed sum exactly as specified in the request letter, in numerical format with two decimal places and no commas. The document specifies the entry format but does not itself determine the amount required for a particular business.

Effective and expiry dates: fields 8–9

Enter the guarantee effective date and expiry date from the request letter. The first is when the guarantee takes effect; the second is when it ceases to operate. Preparing these nine fields allows the financial institution to process the application; the checklist itself is neither the issued guarantee nor confirmation of IRAS acceptance.
