Who applies, when and at what cost
An employer or local sponsor submits the online application. Apply at least two months before the assignment begins. The administrative/application fee is S$175. Most applications are processed within approximately six weeks, although some take longer; application status can be checked online.
Plan the event and arrival carefully
Provide relevant information early to reduce avoidable delays. Event organisers should not publicise a candidate’s participation before approval and should bring the candidate into Singapore only after the pass is approved. MOM cannot extend a visit pass that expires before the work pass is issued.
Prepare the supporting documents
Prepare the passport personal-particulars page and, where applicable, a synopsis of the talk or event. For documents in another language, submit an English translation together with the original. A translation service provider may prepare the translation. MOM may request additional documents during review.
Complete and submit the online application
Obtain the candidate’s written consent to apply. Download the application form for online submission, complete it electronically and arrange for it to be signed. Submit the signed form and the supporting documents specified in the form through MOM’s online submission form. A Corppass account is required; obtain one first if necessary. Pay S$175 using PayNow, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.
After approval and during the stay
If approved, MOM emails the approval letter to the contact person named in the application. The holder may participate only in the activity at the venue and on the date stated in that letter. A valid Short-Term Visit Pass issued by ICA on arrival is also required for the stay. Before travelling, meet the applicable travel requirements.
Changing an approved event
If the synopsis, time, venue or programme changes, notify MOM at least one month before the date of the originally approved programme. Approval for a particular event does not permit the holder to switch activities or dates without the required notification.
