Timing, cost and permit form
Apply from four weeks before expected delivery up to sixteen weeks after birth; beyond that consider a domestic-worker Work Permit. Employer/EA application costs S$35 and normally takes one week, longer if evidence is requested.
Short-term employment uses a Work Permit letter rather than a card, ending no later than sixteen weeks from birth. The arrival visit pass may need separate extension to cover employment. Nanny income is taxable.
Submission and start date
Obtain the nanny’s written consent. An EA also needs employer authorisation through FDW eService before transacting, with linked FAQs/infographic guidance.
Apply online and indicate the start date if prompt commencement is needed. Pay S$35 by Visa, Mastercard or PayNow and check status after one week. Notify MOM of the date before work starts; if omitted at application, use FDW eService after approval.
Arrival preparation
The nanny prints IPA, presents it to the immigration officer on arrival and meets current travel requirements.
