Timing and cases not needing separate cancellation
Cancel a DP no longer needed, including a move to live overseas. Submit up to 14 days in advance: a 15 February cancellation may be requested from 1 February. After permanent departure, cancel within one week unless the pass already expired.
Separate cancellation is unnecessary if it expired, if cancelling the main work pass will also cancel the family DP, or if the holder becomes a Singapore permanent resident. An expired-pass holder still in Singapore should request an STVP for valid stay.
Who acts and what cancellation affects
The employer or employment agent cancels it. PEP or EntrePass holders may cancel their family DP themselves or appoint an agent. Cancellation is immediate except for an advance-dated request.
Any linked LOC or Work Permit is also cancelled with the DP, which matters when coordinating employment and immigration changes.
Travel arrangements before cancellation
The employer must buy an air ticket with checked baggage and pay connecting transport to the international port of entry in the dependant’s home country or the region nearest their hometown, unless the holder agrees in writing to pay instead.
Before booking, check airline boarding conditions such as health or visa requirements and the destination embassy’s entry rules, or consult MFA travel guidance.
Cancellation, STVP and the card
Use EP eService on myMOM Portal. For a dependant still in Singapore, request an STVP allowing up to 90 days from application. Overstaying without a valid pass incurs a fine.
Both the dependant and submitting party receive the STVP by email. Present it with a valid passport at departure. Cut the cancelled DP card in half and discard it to prevent misuse.
