Deadline and exceptions
Cancel within one week after the last day of notice when the holder stops working for the employer. Submit up to 14 days early: for cancellation on 15 February, submit from 1 February. If the holder leaves permanently, cancel within one week after departure unless already expired. No cancellation is needed on becoming PR or after expiry, but a holder still in Singapore needs lawful stay, normally an STVP request.
Before cancellation
Give reasonable notice of repatriation, seek IRAS clearance at least one month before employment ends and settle outstanding matters including wages. Pay for an air ticket with check-in luggage and connecting transport to the international entry port at home or nearest the hometown, unless the holder agrees in writing to bear costs. Check airline boarding and home-entry rules before booking.
Process, family passes and STVP
Employer or EA cancels using EP eService on myMOM; normally immediate, apart from advance-dated requests. Related family passes are cancelled and cannot be reinstated. A holder still in Singapore can request STVP at cancellation or within a day after EP expiry, for up to 90 days from application. Both parties receive it by email; show it with a valid passport when departing.
After cancellation
The holder cannot work even while waiting to depart. Cut and discard the card. Ensure a valid legal stay: overstaying can be fined and remaining beyond visa expiry is an offence; employing a foreigner without valid work permission is also an offence.
