Deadline and alternatives
The employer, sponsor or agent cancels within one week after the last working day, or within one week of departure if the helper will not return. Cancellation is immediate and levy stops the previous day. An expired permit does not require cancellation but the helper needs a Special Pass for continued legal stay. A direct or agency-mediated transfer may be an alternative to cancellation; part-time household services may suit an employer not hiring another helper.
Settle matters and book travel
Agree the final workday, settle wages and other outstanding matters, and ensure a valid passport. Before booking, agree transit connections/layovers and subsistence allowance in writing. Buy a flight with checked baggage and pay connecting transport to the home country’s international entry point or the region nearest the hometown. Departure must be within two weeks of cancellation. Check airline health/visa requirements and destination entry rules through embassy or MFA guidance.
Cancellation and Special Pass
Cancel in FDW eService, print the Special Pass and give it to the helper for stay pending departure; she presents it with a valid passport when leaving. Depart before it expires. If short continued work is required before cancellation, request a permit extension instead. When conditions are met, bond discharge usually occurs one week after departure. If the helper has already gone home and will not return, use the corresponding employment-ending cancellation reason; MOM discharges the bond within two weeks of verifying departure and compliance.
After cancellation
The helper cannot work while awaiting departure. Cut the card in half and discard it. Maintain lawful stay throughout: overstaying and employing a foreigner without a valid work pass are criminal offences and can attract applicable fines.
