Cleaning Enhanced Training Requirements from 1 July 2027: 2026 Addendum

New implementation date and module counts

The 13 February 2026 addendum confirms 1 July 2027 for the further enhanced training requirement. Until that change, the two-module requirement introduced by 31 December 2022 remains the reference. Previously completed recognised courses are considered when planning the additional modules.

Training by job group
Job groupRequirement from July 2027
General cleaning roles1 mandatory WSH + 2 core = 3
Multi-skilled cleaner, mechanical driver, supervisor, truck driver1 mandatory WSH + 3 core = 4

Recommended competencies and implementation

The addendum recommends basic horizontal-surface, vertical-surface and washroom maintenance for general cleaners; chemical handling for machine operators; supervisory and risk-management capabilities for higher levels. Use the role-mapped endorsed WSQ list, not an arbitrary course. Buyers should allow training during work hours where service standards are maintained, and providers should schedule workers before the deadline.

Role-by-role endorsed competency catalogue

The following tables retain the role group and every distinct endorsed TSC code in the document. Several course names can lead to the same competency code; select the course relevant to actual duties and the required safety/core category. Recognition of equivalents remains subject to the document’s stated conditions.
