Protections from 2025
The Platform Workers Act implements the Advisory Committee’s recommendations. From 1 January 2025 its three main protections are WICA-equivalent work-injury benefits, housing/retirement support through CPF and representation rights. Operators deduct the worker CPF share as earnings arise and submit monthly. Rates progressively align with employee/employer rates. Increased contributions are compulsory for workers born from 1 January 1995; older workers can opt in.
Associations and multilingual material
Workers and operators can form platform work associations. A registered worker association recognised by an operator can bargain and represent members in disputes; operators may also be collectively represented by their association. The linked English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil infographics describe the changes.
