Authorise a family member
A spouse, sibling or sibling’s spouse, child or child’s spouse, grandchild or their spouse, or niece/nephew or their spouse can apply in FDW eService to act for the employer. Existing sponsors already have access and need not apply. One employer may appoint one family member; one person may represent up to two employers. Both parties complete the consent form, and the representative uses Singpass to upload it. Processing takes up to three working days. Approval has no expiry; withdrawal is immediate. To change representatives, the existing person withdraws and the new person applies. Allowed transactions include levy/GIRO/waiver/refund/penalty matters, short extensions and renewal. Agencies require separate employer authorisation before transactions.
References and unlicensed-moneylending reports
Employers and their family members may consent to provide a reference, withdraw consent, or report borrowing from unlicensed moneylenders with a police report. MOM tells prospective employers or agents and shares referee contacts for conduct, character and performance enquiries. A former employer’s referee contacts appear during FDW eService application; other former-employer identities are not disclosed. A referee may reveal household information in conversation. MOM still processes a new application despite negative feedback; MDW employment bans require criminal convictions.
Temporary care while the employer is overseas
A helper may stay with a friend, relative or agency for no longer than one month. Notify MOM at least seven days before travel, with acknowledgement within one day, and notify again before changing arrangements. Check the accommodation meets public-agency requirements; agency boarding must comply with licence Annex D. Tell the helper beforehand. During the absence ensure proper care and no work at those premises, continue salary and levy, provide accommodation, food and medical treatment, and remain contactable.
Employer contact and residential address
Update email and phone in FDW eService to receive notices. Report a residential move within two weeks. Citizens/PRs update through ICA; holders of MOM EP, S Pass, DP or LTVP use EP eService, with LTVP changes made by the sponsoring EP/S Pass holder or company. Keep the acknowledgement with the card. ICA-issued LTVP holders use FDW eService > Edit my Profile and upload a recent address document; an agent can assist without Singpass. This route receives an emailed result within seven working days. The helper’s workplace updates automatically, with postal acknowledgement within two weeks.
Helper particulars and salary
Use FDW eService for name, birth date, marital status and passport number/expiry. Other particulars use the employer or agency request route with evidence such as a passport page. MOM informs ICA; automated gates are available four working days after MOM’s update-confirmation email. Before reducing salary, obtain the helper’s written consent and notify the new salary in FDW eService. An increase does not need MOM notification.
Pregnancy
The clinic reports a pregnancy discovered during the six-monthly examination. Outside that examination the employer must notify MOM and upload a doctor’s memo. MOM contacts the employer within seven working days of receiving medical results.
Missing helper
Within one week of learning the helper is missing, file a missing-person police report and cancel the permit. If not found within one month of cancellation, S$2,500, half the S$5,000 bond, is forfeited for repatriation and related costs.
Death in Singapore
Contact police immediately and within 12 hours of learning of the death notify MOM of the employer’s name/contact number and helper’s name/permit number. Cancel immediately after informing MOM. Upload the death certificate and an airway bill for repatriated body/ashes, a Singapore burial certificate or a local cremation certificate, as applicable.
