Business restructuring
Notify MOM when restructuring changes the CPF submission number: changing entity type with a director/partner/proprietor moving across, a full merger/acquisition/amalgamation, or renewal under a different ACRA number with the same name. Use the business-transfer procedure, rather than an ordinary related-company transfer.
Non-Malaysian transfers to a related company
Transfers must be within the same sector with existing-employer consent. If more than 20 days remain on the permit, the new employer may apply subject to sector criteria. Within the last 20 days, obtain pre-approval first, then apply if granted and meet quota and all other requirements. The old permit cancels automatically when the new one is issued.
Malaysian transfers and company contacts
For a Malaysian, the related company applies with sufficient quota, and the old employer cancels at employment end before the new permit is issued. For company name/contact changes, update CPF Board, which informs MOM. Entity or ACRA/CPF-number changes instead require the restructuring route.
Worker address, phone and occupation
Report a residential address or phone change within five days using OFWAS, ensuring compliant housing; otherwise the worker may be penalised. Request an occupation change through WP Online. An NTS Occupation List worker may only move to an occupation within that list and must meet its specific conditions.
Personal particulars
Update name, birth date, marital status and passport number/expiry through WP Online. Other changes use the request route with supporting evidence such as the passport particulars page. MOM informs ICA; automated-gate use is available four working days after the update-confirmation email.
Salary changes
Before changing salary obtain written worker consent and notify the new amount in WP Online. Salary cannot be amended before permit issuance. An NTS Occupation List worker’s revised salary must still meet the list’s minimum fixed monthly salary.
Former-worker references
After cancellation, an employer can offer a personal reference. MOM informs the prospective employer or agent and shares contact details for conduct, character and performance checks; they may also speak to the worker. The request lasts two years but is withdrawable anytime. Employer feedback alone cannot justify a future employment ban: a Singapore-law conviction or infringement of MOM regulations is required. Non-employment complaints by landlords or housing agents are not acted on through this route.
Pregnancy and disappearance
Notify MOM of pregnancy. For a spouse who is a citizen/PR, provide the spouse’s name, NRIC and marriage certificate; for an EP/S Pass spouse, provide name and FIN or permit number. If a worker goes missing, report to police and cancel within one week of learning of it. A non-Malaysian not found within one month of cancellation triggers forfeiture of S$2,500, half the bond, for repatriation and related costs.
Death in Singapore
Cancel within one week of death with a death certificate and airway bill for repatriated remains/ashes or local cremation certificate. The employer pays cremation or repatriation of the body, return of belongings to the family, and outstanding wages or other payments to the estate, such as the next of kin or appointed trustee.
