Electronic payment and records
Employers must pay S Pass salaries electronically and start doing so within three months after the pass is issued. Maintain a record of payments. Non-compliance can lead to fines or prosecution and may affect MOM’s assessment of future work-pass applications.
Accepted payment methods
MOM lists GIRO through the employer’s designated bank, internet or ATM funds transfers, standing orders and funds transfers at bank counters. Choose an electronic method and retain the transaction records needed to show salary payments.
Limited exemptions
The electronic-payment requirement is exempted where the pass has been issued for three months or less, where wages relate to the last month of employment, or where the payment is for overtime work. The page exempts the payment method in these situations; it does not waive the underlying obligation to pay the wages.
