Take five minutes for wellbeing
The World Mental Health Day publication encourages workers to take five minutes daily to look after mental wellbeing. Its five tips are presented as simple everyday actions.
The five actions, in source order
First, contact family and friends by phone. Second, avoid bottling up feelings and speak with a friend or a FACE volunteer in the dormitory. Third, pause for breathing exercises when overwhelmed. Fourth, spend five minutes appreciating the things or people in life. Fifth, do a simple workout or five-minute stretch to clear the mind.
People and services listed for further support
The final page suggests talking to a buddy, Peer Support Leader, FACE volunteer or FAST officer when help is needed. It prints HealthServe’s 24-hour helpline as 3129 5000 and the Migrant Workers’ Centre’s 24-hour helpline as 6536 2692. All original language versions remain available as attachments.
