Scope and format
Use only the latest travel document. Usually provide only its biodata page; add amendments/observation pages only if they change biodata particulars. Save each page separately as JPG, PNG or PDF, landscape and upright.
Steps one to three: colour, exposure and labels
One: provide a large close-up colour biodata copy with clear image/text and visible eyes, ears, mouth, nose and chin. Two: use even exposure without reflective obstruction; angle or hold the document vertically and avoid flash. Three: keep labels such as issue date and birthplace clear.
Steps four and five: full page and name
Four: show the entire page and Machine Readable Zone without cropping, obstruction or watermark. The illustrated correct example shows the full zone; the incorrect one obscures it with a watermark and finger.
Five: enter the full name in the same document order. Use machine-readable conversion for characters such as Ä, É, Ö, Ø and Ü; for example, Ø becomes OE.
Steps six and seven: amendment pages
Six: upload amendment/observation pages only for changed details such as name or expiry. Seven: select the eService amendment-page checkbox and upload the page when a change exists. The screenshot shows the optional amendment/observation checkbox.
