Forged formwork supervisor certificate: six-week sentence

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

Hanif Miah Md Nurul Islam was sentenced to six weeks for knowingly using a forged formwork-supervision certificate.

Details and conditions

He bought the document in 2015 and gained at least four supervisory appointments in late 2020 without the required training. A subcontractor’s authenticity enquiry triggered investigation; other scaffold certificates were also forged.

Context and follow-up

No injury was reported, but untrained supervision exposed workers to collapse risks. Employers should verify safety qualifications and practical competence before assigning high-risk duties; absence of an accident did not prevent prosecution.

This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
