What the release reports
MOM extends the heightened safety period from March through May 2023. Death rates had improved, but serious injuries and sector differences remained concerning.
Details and conditions
Companies with serious lapses after serious or fatal incidents must send CEOs and directors for half-day WSH training, alongside leadership accountability and possible hiring restrictions. Higher penalties, SME guidance and stronger reporting support were announced.
Context and follow-up
Workers should first raise concerns internally, then use SnapSAFE, MOM or worker-support channels if unresolved. The annex summarises existing tender, demerit and SME measures. This extension is a historical phase before the later permanent SAFE package.
