What the release reports
From 19 September 2023, employers bringing new non-Malaysian CMP Work Permit holders must obtain accommodation verification as well as pass approval.
Details and conditions
Evidence includes tenancy, rental or accommodation-provider agreements. Onboard bookings are checked against verification. Purpose-built or specified employer dormitories generally obtain approval within a week; private homes, hotels or hostels may require six weeks or longer.
Context and follow-up
Employers must allow for checks in recruitment schedules and may lose pass privileges for bringing workers without proof. The release encourages additional approved accommodation and productivity measures; a work permit approval alone does not satisfy the new entry condition.
