Platform Workers Act starts: CPF and injury protection

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

From 1 January 2025, platform workers receive statutory protections for CPF savings, work injuries and representation. Operators must notify MOM of their status; earlier notifications need not be repeated.

Details and conditions

Increased CPF contributions are mandatory for workers born from 1 January 1995. Older workers may opt in without a deadline, but the decision is irreversible. Those not opting in continue MediSave contributions without the operator’s CPF share.

Context and follow-up

Operators must provide work-injury insurance at employee-equivalent coverage. Eligible lower-income workers receive transition support against increased CPF deductions. Operators deduct and remit contributions monthly; an account on a platform does not remove these obligations.

Official source

This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
