Platform Workers Bill: savings, injury claims and representation

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

The 2024 Bill defines platform work separately from employment and freelancing, with protections planned from January 2025. Operators automate decisions and control ride-hail or delivery tasks.

Details and conditions

CPF increases would phase in over five years, mandatory for those born from 1995, with older workers able to opt in. Fixed expense deductions calculate net earnings: twenty percent for bicycles, walking or public transport, thirty-five percent for motorcycles or similar devices, and sixty percent for cars and larger vehicles.

Context and follow-up

Work-injury cover includes medical costs, income loss and permanent incapacity or death. Earnings across relevant platforms over up to ninety days inform compensation. Registered associations need recognition or a membership ballot to represent workers; the original annex explains multi-platform liability examples.

Official source

This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
