What the release reports
Tabled on 14 October 2025, the second Bill proposed a sequence of internal grievance handling, mediation and adjudication as the last resort. It followed the first Bill passed in January.
Details and conditions
The proposed tribunal threshold is S$250,000, with higher claims going to the High Court. Tribunal proceedings would exclude lawyers, while specified union representation remains possible. Private hearings, judge-led management and mediation time limits are intended to preserve accessibility and workplace harmony.
Context and follow-up
Employers could seek dismissal of frivolous claims, with costs and other safeguards against abuse. At this release, implementation was intended for 2027 if Parliament passed the Bill. The November passage announcement subsequently refined the target to end-2027; this article retains the October proposal context.
