Tanjong Katong sinkhole: charges against seven parties

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

BCA, MOM and LTA completed investigations into the July 2025 sinkhole that swallowed a car near sewer-shaft works. The driver was rescued and taken to hospital.

Details and conditions

Seven parties faced charges, including Ohin Construction, three company leaders, two qualified persons and a resident engineer. Allegations span unapproved works, licensing and supervision failures, inadequate risk controls, missing tests or video surveillance, and reporting or declaration failures. PUB and Surbana Jurong received conditional warnings.

Context and follow-up

Work remained halted at the announcement. New structural plans and safety approval would be needed before resumption. A review of more than sixty similar projects found adequate safeguards; charges in this project remain allegations pending adjudication.
