Work-related traffic deaths prompt stronger safeguards

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

By the July 2026 announcement, seven workers had died in work-related road incidents, exceeding the six recorded throughout 2025. Three water-transport deaths were also reported.

Details and conditions

The multi-agency taskforce issued an advisory covering workers who drive or ride for work, with shared responsibilities for employers, platform operators, workers and other road users. Risk management, safe operating practices and navigation receive greater attention.

Context and follow-up

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Traffic Police joined the taskforce to coordinate road-safety expertise and enforcement. The advisory is linked with the original release; its focus is prevention across transport operations rather than attributing all incidents to one cause.
