Announcement and status
MOM issued a stern warning after Twelve Cupcakes closed and entered liquidation on 29 October 2025, leaving 80 employees unpaid for work from 1–29 October, due on 7 November. The official publication date is 1 April 2026.
Case details and examples
Investigations found acute financial distress rather than deliberate avoidance. Salaries had been paid through September; management learnt of liquidation the day before closure and informed FDAWU. A liquidator was appointed, and employee salary claims rank ahead of other unsecured debts. TADM reviewed 45 workers’ claims, while FDAWU and e2i provided claims and employment support.
Official advisory and follow-up
Employers must pay salaries and communicate closure early, notify unions first where applicable, and alert MOM for support. The source contains an inconsistent closure year in one passage; this account uses its stated 2025 chronology, not that isolated inconsistency.
