What is a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) in Singapore?
This guide covers the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and LTVP+ issued by ICA. An approved LTVP allows an eligible foreigner to stay in Singapore for the period and purpose stated in the pass. Eligibility, sponsorship and documents depend on the application category.

Conditions, financial support and pre-marriage assessment (PMLA)
ICA considers family ties to Singaporeans, economic contributions, qualifications, age, family profile and length of residence, together with the supporting evidence. Approval is assessed on the individual case.
PMLA stands for Pre-Marriage Long-Term Visit Pass Assessment. It is a free assessment for a Singapore citizen and their intended foreign spouse before marriage. A positive result gives a Letter of LTVP Eligibility valid for one year. The couple still submits an LTVP application after marriage. PMLA itself normally takes one month and is not a stay pass or final LTVP approval.

Parent or Grandparent of a Child or Grandchild Studying in Singapore
ICA’s current wording covers a parent or grandparent of a child or grandchild studying on a Student’s Pass. It is not limited to a mother or grandmother. Only one parent or grandparent may apply under this category, and a qualifying local sponsor is required.

Application process: from route selection to submission
- Step 1: Confirm the ICA LTVP category, applicant, sponsor and document checklist. For the citizen-spouse route, review the pre-marriage assessment where applicable.
- ICA: the sponsor signs in with Singpass, or the eligible graduate uses the non-Singpass route. Select all intended applicants/products before creating the draft.
- Complete particulars and uploads during the first seven days. The next seven days are for review, declarations and payment; follow the exact deadline shown.
- Each added applicant reviews and declares using their own Singpass or ICA-issued unique credentials. Request corrections before final declaration.
- The sponsor/main applicant completes final declaration, pays and submits. Save the acknowledgement and reference number, and download the submitted copy within the available seven-day period.

After approval: complete formalities and retrieve the pass
For ICA applications submitted from 26 June 2024, the IPA sets out the remaining tasks, including a medical examination if required. The IPA itself is not a stay pass. Keep the existing permitted stay valid while completing the case.
- Complete and upload the required tasks before IPA expiry. ICA then verifies the completion documents.
- Pay the issuance charges within the 14-day payment period after the payment notification. Missing the stated deadline can cause withdrawal of the case.
- ICA tells the applicant whether attendance at ICA Services Centre is required. Where required, follow the allocated appointment and bring the IPA-listed originals.
- ICA LTVP is digital. FileSG access is normally available by the next working day after issuance and Singpass display after three working days. Eligible graduates seeking employment and visitors granted LTVP to give birth in Singapore retrieve their digital pass through FileSG.
Does an ICA LTVP itself authorise work?
An ICA LTVP is permission to stay for the approved purpose. The pass alone does not authorise paid or unpaid employment or business activity. A holder planning to work must first obtain the applicable employment approval and comply with the pass conditions.

Validity: read the actual grant
ICA determines the validity of an LTVP for the individual case. The published LTVP+ scheme provides three years initially and up to five years on subsequent renewal. Always use the actual expiry date shown on the issued pass.
Check the digital pass and passport records. An IPA, an old FileSG record or a pending renewal does not itself grant a new period of stay.
