Singapore EP Eligibility: Salary First, Then COMPASS
Review Employment Pass eligibility in two steps: check fixed salary by age, sector and effective date, then assess COMPASS unless exempt. Another founder’s result is not an assessment of your eligibility. Organise applicant and employer records separately and use MOM’s SAT before applying.
More than a qualification
Record dates, responsibilities and outcomes in your CV, explaining how they relate to the proposed role. A list of job titles or certificates alone does not communicate that connection.
Explain the employer
Explain business activities, management structure and the need for the role. New companies can describe preparations; operating companies can show customers, transactions and staffing. Clearly distinguish plans from completed work.
Keep a review list
Use three columns: confirmed facts, missing documents and items requiring official checks. Review current salary, COMPASS and exemption guidance rather than predicting an outcome from another applicant’s case.
Preparation Example
For an experienced professional moving into management, map past projects to proposed responsibilities. Identify which experience explains the role and which areas still need evidence.
Pre-consultation Checklist
Updated CV; proposed job description; business and staffing arrangements; conditions requiring review.
EP Questions and Practical Answers
Does meeting the EP salary threshold guarantee approval?
No. Salary is one part of eligibility; non-exempt candidates must also pass COMPASS and provide accurate role and employer information. SAT supports a preliminary review but is not approval. Separate confirmed requirements from evidence still needed.
