Register the birth abroad first
Singapore does not register overseas births. Register with the authority where the child was born and obtain that foreign birth certificate. A Singapore citizenship application is a different process from birth registration.
Citizenship application
After obtaining the birth certificate, the Singapore citizen parent can submit the child’s citizenship application with Singpass. Follow the separate citizenship eligibility and checklist, including accepted translations where relevant. An overseas birth certificate alone does not show that Singapore citizenship has been granted.
