File structure before upload
Use an Excel .xlsx file with exactly eleven columns, A through K. Remove rows 1 and 2 containing the template headers before uploading to myTax Portal, and leave no empty rows between records. The file-structure requirement is separate from correctly formatting individual fields; a valid value inside an incorrectly structured workbook can still fail.
A–B: identifier type and format
Column A accepts NRIC, FIN, MIC, WP, ASGD, ITR, UEN-LOCAL CO, UEN-BUSINESS or UEN-OTHERS. The source uses N for a numeric position and C for a character: NRIC SNNNNNNNC/TNNNNNNNC; FIN GNNNNNNNC/FNNNNNNNC; ASGD ANNNNNNNC; ITR NNNNNNNNNC; business UEN NNNNNNNNC; local-company UEN YYYYNNNNNC; other UEN TYYPQNNNNC/SYYPQNNNNC/RYYPQNNNNC. MIC has seven or eight alphanumeric characters or twelve numeric digits. WP has ten characters including the space. Follow the stated source formats rather than removing a space automatically.
C–J: personal and activity fields
Name in C allows 80 characters. Nationality in D uses the exact value S’PORE CITIZEN for a Singapore citizen. Sex in E is F or M. Designation F describes activity and accepts REMISIER, REAL ESTATE AGENT, INSURANCE AGENT, DISTRIBUTOR, FINANCIAL ADVISOR, INSTRUCTOR, THERAPISTS, SINGAPORE POOL RETAILERS or OTHERS; use OTHERS if none applies. G is date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY. H, I and J are optional address lines, each limited to 40 characters.
K: gross income and amendment negatives
Gross Commission in K allows at most ten digits, with no decimals, commas or dollar sign. For a negative amendment amount, the minus sign does not count towards the ten-digit limit. Report gross amounts paid for services, including commission, referral fees, training fees, retail profits, allowances and incentives, and include non-individual commission recipients where relevant. How errors are displayed
The final page distinguishes invalid cell data from an incorrect file-type extension. Invalid-data messages appear in red at the top of the page; the affected cell has a red triangle at its upper-right corner. Use the message and marker together to locate and correct the field before resubmitting.
