Effective date and four changes
The infographic summarises changes effective on 1 April 2019: core Employment Act protection for all managers and executives; a S$2,600 Part IV salary threshold for non-workmen; recognition of medical certificates from all registered doctors and dentists; and wrongful-dismissal claims through the Employment Claims Tribunals after mediation. It records a legislative transition, not a new 2026 announcement.
Effective date and core changes
The amendments took effect on 1 April 2019 for existing and new employees. They extended core Employment Act protection to managers/executives earning above S$4,500, extended Part 4 to non-workmen up to S$2,600 basic salary, and shifted wrongful-dismissal adjudication to the ECT. The source explains the transition from the earlier regime; its descriptions of the old regime are historical.
Protections and exclusions
Core provisions include annual leave, paid holidays and sick leave, timely salary payment and protection against wrongful dismissal. Seafarers, domestic workers and public officers remain excluded and are governed separately. Part 4 still distinguishes workmen up to S$4,500 and non-workmen up to S$2,600.
Claims and reference documents
Register wrongful-dismissal claims with TADM for mediation; unresolved claims proceed to the ECT, alongside the salary-claim route. Employers must align employment terms with the revised law. The directory retains the amendment infographic, guidebook and 20 November 2018 release.
