Cleaning PWM June 2023 Addendum: Truck Drivers and Team Leaders
Why truck drivers remain in cleaning PWM
The addendum retains Class 4/5 truck drivers doing non-waste cleaning work under conservancy cleaning. Although their wage floor is aligned with waste-collection drivers, cleaning and general-waste collection have separate licensing regimes. A Class 4/5 driver operating a cleaning vehicle above 2,500 kg unladen weight does not become a waste-management employee merely because the wage level is aligned.
Team-leader duties and wage implementation
A team leader carries additional coordination and guidance responsibilities rather than simply a different title. Employers must reflect the applicable role, skills and additional responsibility in pay, and implement the July 2023 increases. Buyers and providers should budget for the revised labour costs and inform workers of their entitlements.
Complete monthly wage schedules
These are monthly basic minimums for full-time work of 35–44 hours per week. Annual columns normally run from 1 July to 30 June. The first conservancy column begins on 1 June 2022 and the first in-house column on 1 September 2022; both end on 30 June 2023. Other columns follow the July cycle. Part-time requirements are pro-rated.
