Why the approved list was expanded
The January 2024 addendum recognises cross-deployment into turf, nursery and arboriculture, so technician electives now include turf maintenance, chainsaws, tree health/pruning, aerial rescue and plant propagation. Training must match actual duties: a worker who mainly waters and prunes shrubs may not need turf training. Higher-level courses can prepare future promotion. Buyers should recognise skills in tender specifications and allow off-peak training without insisting on a replacement headcount when outcomes are maintained.
Complete module ladder and choices
Workers complete any three level-1 modules from plant health, identification, pruning, turf and vegetation planting. Technicians add three modules (six cumulative): mandatory level-2 hazards/risk/policy plus two endorsed electives. Assistant supervisors add three (nine cumulative): mandatory level-3 hazards/risk/policy plus two different electives not already used as technician. Supervisors complete level-3 plant health, plant identification, and soil/media (12 cumulative).
