Current eligibility and payment
A youngest citizen child aged 7–12 inclusive qualifies a parent for 2 days yearly after 3 continuous months’ employment, or 3 months’ self-employment with income loss. Government pays up to S$500 daily including CPF; leave is not pro-rated. Part-time staff receive 2 scheduled working days: 4 hours daily means 8 hours total. A parent with children below 7 and aged 7–12 receives no more than 6 paid childcare days in total annually.
Official timing example and claims
For a child born August 2013, beginning childcare leave in 2013 places the last 6 childcare days in 2019 and last 2 extended days in 2025; beginning in 2014 places them in 2020 and 2026 respectively. GPL Portal provides application/reimbursement instructions, and Made For Families provides family-package information.
Future announced changes
The 2026 National Day Rally announced increased childcare leave and full-duration Government reimbursement for parents of citizen children up to the relevant cap. The reviewed MOM pages say implementation dates and eligibility details will be released later; the current entitlements below must not be replaced with unannounced figures.
