Definition and relationship
The definition requires ride-hail or delivery work, a platform work agreement with an operator, and the operator’s management control while supplying the service for money or benefits in kind. The agreement may be written/oral or express/implied but is not a contract of service. Without management control, the individual is a self-employed contractor; under a contract of service with the operator, the individual is an employee whose coverage is considered under the Employment Act.
Protections and operator list
Platform-worker protection includes work-injury compensation, CPF and representation. The official operator list records notifications made to MOM and helps a worker identify the notified entity they supply services for.
