Amount and Nature
Each non-Malaysian Work Permit holder requires a S$5,000 bank/insurer guarantee. It secures payment for breached conditions and is not a worker deposit; workers cannot be charged.
Before Arrival
Buy and transmit details through the provider (up to three working days), ensure arrival-date coverage, and check/print the WP Online acknowledgement for the worker. New FINs are assigned within three working days after approval; regenerate IPA. Without effective coverage, entry is refused and the worker must be sent home.
When Is Liability Discharged?
Discharge requires cancellation, return home and no bond breach. Normally it follows about one week after departure, with postal notice. Cancellation alone does not immediately discharge liability; retain departure and discharge records.
Forfeiture Risks
Potential triggers include breached conditions, late salary, failure to repatriate, missing workers and omitted CMP Onboard participation. For worker violations, MOM describes protection where employers prove prior instruction and prompt reporting. Retain evidence; this is not blanket immunity.
