What the release reports
Jenalyn Gannaban and Obillo Manale were fined S$8,000 and S$5,000 after arranging other workers’ licensed-moneylender appointments for profit.
Details and conditions
They collected S$10–S$30 for each approved loan, earning regular additional income during 2017–2018. Their permits would be revoked and entry or employment bans imposed.
Context and follow-up
A domestic permit does not authorise a second paid activity, even involving a licensed lender. The case concerns illegal employment, not a finding that the lender’s every loan was unlawful.
