Entertainment labour trafficking: manager jailed 41 months

MOM publication date:

What the release reports

Jaiho Club manager Alagar Balasubramanian received forty-one months’ imprisonment, a S$27,365 fine and S$2,722 compensation order over trafficking involving three performers.

Details and conditions

Workers faced unexplained contracts, oppressive financial demands, no wages, seized documents or phones, threats and assaults. These facts go beyond an ordinary employment dispute.

Context and follow-up

MOM arranged counselling, welfare visits and temporary employment; the women returned safely to India. Suspected trafficking can be confidentially reported. The release distinguishes the February conviction from the April sentencing date.

Official source

This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
