Announcement and status
Abdus Sattar was charged on 27 March 2025 over an August 2024 event at Lantana Lodge. Allegations concern an unpermitted public assembly, unlicensed entertainment and assistance to a foreign religious speaker without a work pass. Dormitory operator SBM separately faced a licence-condition charge.

Two Bangladeshi nationals allegedly preached and performed songs. No Miscellaneous Work Pass was sought for the religious talk. SBM allegedly failed to keep proper entry and exit records for non-residents. The release lists potential fines of S$5,000 for the assembly, S$20,000 for entertainment, and EFMA consequences up to S$20,000 or two years or both; FEDA breaches could attract S$50,000 or one year or both.
Official advisory and follow-up
The advisory requires qualifying foreign speakers to obtain the relevant pass. It describes one-year visitor-record retention and, from October 2024, approval applications at least 30 days before religious, race-related or political-cause dormitory events.
