Residence Is Not Work Authorisation
ICA LTVP holders need the appropriate work authorisation. Work Permit applications require at least four months’ remaining LTVP validity. Objectionable occupations such as dance hostess or masseur are prohibited. This four-month WP rule differs from the separate three-month LOC requirement.
Spouses and Children Under 21 of Citizens or PRs
ICA LTVP/LTVP+ holders in these categories can review LOC: first find employment, then the employer applies. Without those passes, qualify independently for EP, S Pass or WP. ICA-family arrangements are distinct from DP employment changes.
PLOC Versus LOC
PLOC can be requested when applying for or renewing ICA LTVP/LTVP+, without first obtaining a job. Restricted occupations, including journalism, editing, production and religion, require the prospective employer to apply for LOC. Pre-approval is not unrestricted occupational permission.
Other Relatives and Parents
LTVP-holding parents of citizens or PRs can work on WP and count only towards the employer’s overall quota. Other relatives without LTVP need to qualify independently for EP, S Pass or WP. Relationship and pass categories must be reviewed separately.
Parents Accompanying a Student
An LTVP parent accompanying a studying child cannot work during the first year. After one year, an employer may apply for WP. Any sector is possible without source-country restriction, counting only towards overall quota, with levy and occupation restrictions.
Accompanying-Parent WP Documents and Validity
The page lists the child’s Student’s Pass, birth certificate, school letter stating education level, and the parent’s LTVP and passport particulars. WP depends on valid ICA LTVP and ends with it. Continuing work needs a regular pass, meeting its salary, quota or source-country rules.
Prepare a Status Comparison
Compare issuer, relationship, time in Singapore, validity, job offer and occupation. Choose the route before collecting records. PLOC, LOC and WP are different arrangements with different application, start-work and occupational conditions.
