The template hierarchy
This is a branching communication tree, not an ordinary telephone directory. The crisis response leader and alternate contact the response coordinator and alternate. The coordinator reaches department heads and their alternates for HR, sales/marketing, IT, infrastructure/facilities and corporate communications. Each department can assign call-list leaders to contact small groups.
Use, reporting and testing
Enter names and verified numbers in the blank nodes; the example has call lists A and B and three contacts under each list leader. Define a retry/escalation process for unanswered calls and require results to flow back to the coordinator so missing staff can be identified. Test regularly, provide backup channels and protect the internal contact data.
