What the release reports
From November 2021, employers with at least ten employees must notify MOM of every retrenchment, regardless of how many staff are affected.
Details and conditions
Notification is due within five working days after notice is given to affected workers. This replaces the earlier trigger of five retrenchments within six months.
Context and follow-up
Reporting enables agencies and tripartite partners to offer job-search support promptly. Employers should also follow responsible and fair retrenchment practices. Reporting a dismissal does not itself establish that all associated employment obligations have been met.
Official source
This report is independently written from the MOM release dated above. Case status, policy announcements and historical figures refer to that release.
